THE FIRST REVELATION CAME TO HOLY PROPHET WHEN HE WAS 40 YEARS OLD.
first revelation came to prophet on 25th, 27th, or 29th of Ramadan. The angel Jibreil came to holy prophet in the cave of Hira and gave him the holy message of Allah. THE first revelation was: "READ IN THE NAME OF THY LORD WHO HAS CREATED THE WORLD."
When the Prophet SAW was forty years old, and was spending his time in isolation on the mountain of light(Jabal Al Noor) in the cave of Hira. On the night (25th, 27th, or 29th of Ramadan) the unforgettable event took place where the angel Jibril has sent down to Prophet SAW.
Jibril said,: READ.
Mohammad SAW replied with fear, " I'm NOT ONE OF THOSE WHO CAN READ"
The angel caught and hold him very tightly and repeated, "READ."
Again Mohammad SAW replied: "I'm NOT ONE OF THOSE WHO CAN READ"
Again Jibril said, "READ: IN THE NAME OF THE LORD WHO CREATED; CREATED MAN FROM CLOT OF BLOOD: read: FOR THE LORD IS THE MOST BENEFICENT: WHO HATH TAUGHT MAN THE USE OF PEN: HATH TAUGHT MAN THAT WHICH HE knows NOT."
Mohammad recites these words. Then Angel vanished. Mohammad, disturbed, and perplexed came out of the cave. Then he heard the voice from Heaven(sky), "O, Mohammad, thou art the Prophet of Allah, and I am Jibril. Prophet raised his eyes towards the sky and he saw the angel's light. He again repeated, "Thou art the prophet of Allah and I am Jibril."
The prophet rushed to his house and called Khatija(RA) "Please cover me up, and cover me up." He was trembling. KHATIIJA(RA) consoled him and then the prophet told her the whole story.
After this, revelation kept on coming to the prophet Mohammad for 23 years and thus the whole of the Quran was revealed.
